The City of Fruita is located at the "Western Gateway"
to the Grand Valley and is also the Front Door to the newly designated
Colorado Canyons National Conservation Area. Fruita is a vibrant,
progressive and resourceful community that cherishes its history
and continually strives to fulfill its mission: "To preserve
the rural small town atmosphere of Fruita, while providing adequate
community services for a growing population." The community

form of government. The Mayor and six City Council members are the
governing body of the City. They are elected at large and serve
overlapping terms. The six council members serve four-year terms,
and the Mayor serves a two-year term.
Fruita, due to its location at the northern portal of the

Tire Festival, is also known as a mountain biker's paradise. Mountain
biking has really put Fruita on the map. Read more about the background
of Fruitas
